ATOKA
Atoka County, Oklahoma
Fell Sept. 17, 1945 - L6 Chondrite

Collection No. B178.1 -  A 12.6 gram part-slice with fusion crust.

Provenance: Oscar E. Monnig Collection/Texas Christian University (parent piece #M40.3, 196.0 gram part fragment with crust); by transfer to The Karl Collection.

Notes:  Only 1384 grams was recovered from this rare US fall.  TCU currently holds the main mass (#M40.2, 510.3 gram individual) as well as a 188.0 gram half stone (#M40.1). Note the partial Monnig number that can still be seen in the crust on the photo below (Ex. #M40.3). Interestingly, Atoka was classified as an L6, though its physical appearance highly resembles an L5.
